Jim Ratcliffe: Drums . . (A.K.A.: "Rat or Ratman")

"Big Rat" also a native of the bay area picked up his first drum sticks at age 8.
Rat was instantly inspired by Ringo Starr. Two years later came Rat's first kit, a
1967 Vintage Lugwig 4 piece drum set. Rat continued to play for several years but
quit when he was first introduced to sports. Big Rat became a full time football
fanatic!
Big Rat went on to play football in college and soon graduated from San Diego
State University. As the years flew by (some 20+), while Rat was cleaning house one
day, he accidentally came across his old Lugwig kit. After Rat dusted & cleaned the
old kit up, he wondered if he could still play?
Although it took a while, and a lot of hard work, Rat discovered "Hell Yeah" he could
still play! Rat was so excited about playing again he went out and bought a new DW 7
piece dream kit with all the bells and whistles. He then went and formed this band
the Rock Guardians. How crazy is that? Although several musicians have come and
gone, the band is still alive and well!
Over the years Rat's influences have been: John Bonham, Neil Peart, Stewart
Copeland, Alex Van Halen, & Buddy Rich. Rat's been so obsessed with playing music
again he even went out and bought another kit, a smaller Gretsch kit for playing at
the smaller venues.
It appears that Big Rat is right smack in the middle of his mid-life crisis! So,
anyone and everyone please come out and cheer Big Rat on as he tries to re-enter the
rock scene! He thanks you for your support!
